msfledermausIt's always such a big change when I get off the bus from my job and walk home. I pass the school and scowl at all the construction for the football field they're setting up. I look down the train tracks to see what's new on their construction, too. Then I get to the park section and watch the goldfinches dive-bomb each other and listen to the crickets in the bushes while I slow down to appreciate it all. I trot by all the other antique houses--some part of the co-op, some privately owned, all of them beautiful. There are interesting boats and ships out on the river, enjoying the warm weather before boating season is over for good. There are little winding paths all over the place I can follow if I want to, and little hidden gardens. I pass the firepit, walk past the house with the big teepee and come home to my beloved Maushaus....
Today Peaty and Ben the Neighbor were outside with a huge pot bubbling away, pickling green beans and who knows what. I watered my garden, then ran after a neighbor to give him a handful of tomatoes I'd just picked. Matt popped up with some plates the Pink Satan and her fellow had bought for me, and hung out while I thawed out some homemade tomato sauce for supper. We went for another walk in the park, just to admire everything...
And there was so much to admire.
I love this place so much...
