Soooooo, funny, sooooooonot work-safe...
Feb. 4th, 2009 07:48 amA little while ago, apparently Christian Bale just went thermonuclear at someone on the set of the movie he's currently filming. Normally I really don't care either way for what celebrities do; it just seems so divorced from the rest of the world. But something about this meltdown struck a chord. So I dug through my bookstacks for David Brin's "A Stage of Memory", about a famous actor who hits bottom by getting addicted to a drug that relives your best memories. The quotes in the back I liked best read:
"Growing up near Hollywood, I got to see more than I wanted of what "ego rage" can do to people, especially when all one hears are the trumpets of praise. The long road to hell can be paved by not listening to others,or by listening and believing them too much."
The good part is now it's been remixed by a bunch of different people into suprisingly catch techno songs. Cleolinda put up one that had me nearly snorting tea out of my nose at the breakfast table, and I share it here with you...be warned. The swearing....so much swearing!! Dear gods and monsters, the swearing!!!
