This weekend was a sweet shot of much-needed sunlight. I uncovered the garden, and did a little yardwork for the first time this year that didn't involve shoveling snow. I also walked around the island for a while and picked up little quarried rocks from the old stonecarving site near the railroad tracks. I'm thinking at some point of hitting a garden store and getting new plants and perhaps some kind of small garden-gargoyle. Domestic bliss, baby...

Also, the Sweeties were over at my place for dinner, and we made mussels in wine sauce...I love making that dish so much:) And before dinner we were watching the Jonathan "The Impaler" Sharkey documentary. It was massively entertaining, though often heartbreakingly sad for people who were in the guy's life. I've known a handful of people like that, like most of us have--the swaggering loudmouth bullies, the ones that just seem to make these humongous messes out of everybody's lives, and can't or don't choose to be self-aware enough to think about what they're doing... I kept yelping out things during the show, things like, "Hey, stop micromanaging her blood-ritual!" "Ohmigod, he just bit himself on the arm!" "Wait a minute--That's MY BEDSPREAD from Hot Topic he's wearing as a cape!" "Dude, American flag t-shirts just don't go with green pants!" It's a wonder someone didn't put a canvas bag over my head and sit on me until I shut up...

Anyway, apparently my point is something along the lines of, "Documentaries about crazy bullies make me grateful for my wierd and happy little life..."

The sun has done a finer job of stealing snow than even the most dedicated of terrestrial thieves.

Quirky day around here, weatherwise. Pouring rain in the morning, brilliant sun in the afternoon.

Enormous leg of lamb for dinner. Leg of lamb saga: Beth got one for guests last week, but left it in the car for five hours. Beth got another leg of lamb for guests today, and was suckered by the butcher into buying one-and-one-half times what she needed. Guests cancelled. Now we've got lamb until, well, Easter.

Oh my gosh...so much lamb! If I lived closer, I would be delighted to help you finish it all off:)

I'm trying to think of ways to make the lamb interesting until it's all gone...roast, stew, sandwiches, ummm, barbecue, sweet-and-sour...maybe we can borrow an ice-cream machine? *chuckle*
