Heat wave...
May. 21st, 2009 05:46 amIt's been terribly hot...
I slogged home yesterday, and ran into my neighbor Phillip on his scooter. Phil and Karen have been trying hard to start up a scooter-gang on the island, and they keep telling me I would love, love LOVE a scooter. Phil asked me,"Wanna ride around the Island?" Of course I did...I am thinking thoughts after the buyout, maybe it's time for something fun like that...
When we got back, though, we found out that Peaty's male bunny had died of heatstroke. Poor bunny. Our neighbor Leslie found him, and we comforted her and Peaty as best we could...then I *ran* upstairs to check on Shamu. I don't have my a/c up yet, but I left him that morning with some cool water and a floor fan going on his cage. Of course he was fine, looking up curiously and nuzzling my hand. I stuck a nice ice-pack in his cage, under his blanket for some extra coolness. But I had trouble going to sleep. Poor bunnies... It's hard being a bunny-mama...
This morning it's much cooler--well, it's before 6am, of course it is. Shamu is a happy beast, doing his little skipping dance, because it's cool enough for him to do it. It's raining. And this weekend I am definitely putting the air conditioner in the window...
