Baby bunnies, baby ducks...
Jun. 12th, 2009 08:56 amIt was a very long day yesterday...but when I came home to the Island, it was all worth it.
Liz and Nick and Phil and Karen had bought sausages. Lots and lots of sausages. And an entire wheel of the best brie. And Liz marinated shrimp in blood-orange juice and maple syrup. It was utterly fantastic food, and we all chomped very happily for quite some time... For a while I held Phil and Karen's new rabbit, Smart-Chicken, who snuffled nervously but was okay with being held for a while...I was a fuss-budged rabbit-auntie and got her extra hay and greens and whatnot while people were cooking. It's terrible, I'm all about the bunnies these days...
*Watches Shamu hopping hither and yon in the living room*
Then after dinner we all trooped over to see Peaty's rabbit Babette and her tiny, tiny babies. They'd just opened their eyes, and we all cuddled one each, veeeery gently. Babette didn't mind; she seemed grateful for the break. Then we carefully put them all back and their momma with them.
Of course just then another friend of Peaty's stopped by with a smallish box full of peeping noises--baby ducks! So we all had to cuddle one of those as well. Fuzz therapy is good therapy, I tellya!
After that? A nice bonfire over in the park, until we all were tired and hobbled off to bed.
