Wonderful things...
May. 28th, 2010 08:25 amYesterday was a amazingly good day, in many ways...I ran into some of the ladies from the old Textile department at the Mines, who were there to have lunch with another co-worker. We got a chance to catch up with their projects, and Christine had some photos of the tapestries she was displaying in a show down South. I'm glad that the layoffs gave Christine more time to do her art, but it's still a big loss for the Mines.
Then a very funny and charming French guy came in, and was amused mightily by my enthusiastic but horrifying attempts at French. It didn't help that one of my cow-irkers ambled around the corner, pointed to himself, and said, 'Bonjour! Je m'appelle Josh!" and gave me this huge, evil grin that made me laugh so hard I could barely speak. I don't know how informative I was, but at least I was entertaining...
And after work was done and I was walking home across some of the wooded parkland, I saw someone had launched a little paper air-balloon, lit with a votive candle. It floated over the park, yellow and flickering, and eventually went out over the river. The moon was full, and the air had finally cooled off...and it was all so beautiful.
*sighs with the happy memory*
