Even though it's been muggy and gah-inducing recently, there's been more yarny stuff coming out of the Maushaus. I finished this great black choker made out yarn I recycled from a mohair shirt and spun up with extra merino and whatnot, and added skull buttons. (I will take pictures soon, promise!) There was enough yarn left to make a cool black cuff to match. But the weirdest, coolest thing is yet to come...

A while back a cow-irker asked me if it was possible to spin human hair. "Wellllll, it's kind of slidey, but if it's long enough and mixed with some sheep wool, it's doable. I've seen other people do it." The cow-irker then asked me if I'd try spinning some of her boyfriend's hair with some wool so she could knit a scarf. I told her sure, why not? And today she sidled up to me and said, "I have the hair, I'll put it in your locker. You still want to try?"

Of course I do, even though it's a little creepy. I want to do it *because* it's a little creepy.
Besides the fact that it's such an interesting little puzzle to put together. What would I mix it with, and how would I get something like that to stay? I have ideas. It's fun to have such an experiment to try, even in this weather...

I have a pair of human hair earings that I inherited. I do not know the former owner of said hair. I have not worn them. Period. Who wants hair in/on their ears?

I know a lot of that sort of thing is sort of a Victorian memorial for someone who's died. The only jewelry I've seen like that are lockets and rings with the hair braided in. (I got to see George Washington's hair set in a ring. Coooooool!)

I can see why it would be a little ick-inducing to actually wear the stuff, though.
