It's funny. All day long I was reading about werewolves--mostly the Will Shetterly books about Wolfboy. But last night while I was hanging out with the Littlest Orca I started to hear howling. It was really weird howling--definitely barking and a few "Aroooooooo" noises from a human throat. I was amused at first--the Island has always been a weird-magnet, exhibit A = me. But the strange human howling noises went on for over a half hour. I contemplated calling a cop, but what would I say? "911, there's some guy howling outside my window, am I allowed to throw a shoe or something at him?"

So now, we have under-bridge trolls, really big raccons, maurauding gangs of geese, the occasional creepy 'possum, and...a werewolf?

I wondered at first if it was a neighbor's dog or something, but you could tell it was a human barking. The "a" in "Aroooooo!" was just too distinct. I should have looked harder out the window:/

There's a homeless guy in my neighborhood that growls/grumbles in the alley late at night. Maybe that's all it is.

It could be some of the neighbor kids horsing around or something. It is close to Halloween, a great time for kids to hide in the woods and goof off, get drunk and generally be annoying, like I was:)

Even NYC has coyotes, now... Some of them sound a lot like a bad human imitation o fa wolf... I actually hope it is NOT human. That's too weird.
