A short list of unrelated things...
Apr. 6th, 2011 06:53 pmThere have been layoffs this week at the Mines again...it's been a hard couple of days. My department had a couple of cuts, but my job is safe. I'm grateful...and worried.
I just got back a while ago from mailing off more yarn. I love it that even in a terrible economy, people want the good quality, handmade stuff. It warms my heart...
Of course, this makes me daydream about how cool it would be to make a living with the yarn business. No layoffs there, time off when I want it...ahhhh, such a drooly, happy fantasy.
But I need practical things like the rent paid on time and health insurance, so for now I need the workity life...
There's a section at work we like to call the Least Atrium. Usually I call it, "The Well of Souls". But now there's a ton of prints with a war-theme and an installation in the middle, so now we're all calling it, "The War Room." Staying there used to be dull--now it's depressing and angst-ridden, too. Nothing like a wall full of Otto Dix to make a girl seem perky...
But there's sunshine, and the Paysheo is looking very inviting, though not really warm yet. I miss having my outdoor second-living room. I can hardly wait to spruce up the yard a little and put the little red cushions on those goofy metal chairs.
Also, there's curry. I figured a nice hot green coconut-curry meal was just the thing tonight.
A cheerful dish, full of nice tempting vegetables. Mmmm, curry...
So there you are...and if you have a bowl that's empty, bring it by and I'll fill it with coconutty goodness...

Date: 2011-04-08 12:51 pm (UTC)Forgive me, I'm in a mood...long sad days this week at work, and I just want to retreat to the Craftroom and make it all go away. I think often of the lovely Metmow, and now it's warming up, I bet they're having a spot of tea there right now...
