msfledermaus | Loud kabooms and utter quiet...

Fourth of July was really good--we have a large, fun block party where I got to talk to a lot of my neighbors that I hadn't seen in a long while. And Miss Fleur! And Captain Emily for more than five minutes! We kept taking breaks from the muggyness in my place, where we pestered the very-patient Shamu and caught up with things. I was just so glad to see people, even though the heat seemed to turn off the clever parts of my brain and had me down to, "Uhhhh, I sure do like you..."

Also, Phil and Karen stopped by with the new baby. We all got a chance to snuggle Benjamin Leo very, very gently. He slept through the whole fireworks show,which was absolutely adorable. Kid's going to be up to his ears in little knitted things by fall. I already want to make a floppy-bunny ears hat for him. Aw.

And today? Very quiet. I think I needed some of that. I just stayed in the air conditioning, spinning a little here and there, doing laundry, touching up the streak in my hair. Quiet things. I'm enjoying it very, very much...
