Flailing and mumbling with pillows...

After a wonderful evening of cocktails and sushi with Ben the Neighbor to celebrate his birthday, we sat out on the Paeceo with our neighbor Rocky and a few candles, enjoying the evening for a while...then I toddled off upstairs to let the Littlest Orca out to play, and finished reading Poppy Z. Brite's "Lost Souls" before bed...

Which of course, on top of the sushi and beverages, gave me flaily, mumbly nightmares. Kind of cool ones, but nightmares nonetheless.

But the beautiful evening was completely worth it...

Poppy Z Brite. wow.... haven't thought of her in a while... I picked up one of her books in a bargain bin once; I lent it to a friend/co-worker once, after he read it, he handed it back to me in a paper bag and told me to get that trash away from him! :P I have not actually ever read any of her other novels.

The earlier ones are fun, in a gruesomely flaily sort of way. I'm kind of addicted to her later stuff, the "Liquor" series, about a gay couple in New Orleans running a restaurant based on booze...murder and mayhem follows, and some of the chapters are just really damn good.
