Clarification...

...Personally I feel optimistic. In a cultural sense, though, there's all the other feelings the Western world has right now...and of course this affects me too.
I'm not ignoring the events that are unfolding all around us today. I'm just letting the cheerfulness have it's way with me before everything else seeps in again...

I keep thinking of two songs--Boingo's "Marching off to war again," and Peter Gabriel's piano version of "Here comes the flood."

We have to embrace the good feelings when they come along. I personally don't want to live in fear and sadness over all that's happening. I really need to smile once in a while. We all do.

I'm trying hard *not* to live in fear and sadness, although my only respite seems to be when taking care of The Kid and enjoying her youthful innocence. I wish optimism was contagious. Meanwhile, I keep singing this to myself and it helps a bit:
