Veggin' out due to ligament stuff...
Jun. 2nd, 2003 09:16 pmI took a sick day today to rest some tendons I pulled last night in my hip.
(Two words: Mosh Pit.) Its not too bad if I get a chance to rest my leg, and I should be at work tomorrow.:P
Barbara at Llewellyn wrote me. She gave me some good technical advice about how the pen-and-ink-medium would possibly scan. (I used a lot of grey tones, which don't always reproduce well. Damn those seductive grey-tone pens! Memo to myself: Crosshatch whether you like it or not, missy!) She'll get back to me about how they scan, and meanwhile I'll see if I can't pull together a formal submission--5 cards, cover letter, finished questionaire, etcetra. I'm going to be a busy Maus. Still no guarantees though--at least if they say no I can use the work for the show in November. Or possibly self-publish. (Keeping in mind that if I do a card a week it could take me a year and a half to finish the deck.)
I'm fretting a little...I so very much want to do well. My entire existence seems to revolve around wanting to do well; to make something wonderful that pleases not only myself but other people too. It's all I really want. Money, power, it all takes a back seat to wanting create something special to share with people, to create a silent conversation with pictures. To be useful and appreciated for that usefulness. To do what I really really do best. It would be nice if Llewellyn says yes. I have to be okay with it if they say No.
