I took a sick day today to rest some tendons I pulled last night in my hip.
(Two words: Mosh Pit.) Its not too bad if I get a chance to rest my leg, and I should be at work tomorrow.:P

Barbara at Llewellyn wrote me. She gave me some good technical advice about how the pen-and-ink-medium would possibly scan. (I used a lot of grey tones, which don't always reproduce well. Damn those seductive grey-tone pens! Memo to myself: Crosshatch whether you like it or not, missy!) She'll get back to me about how they scan, and meanwhile I'll see if I can't pull together a formal submission--5 cards, cover letter, finished questionaire, etcetra. I'm going to be a busy Maus. Still no guarantees though--at least if they say no I can use the work for the show in November. Or possibly self-publish. (Keeping in mind that if I do a card a week it could take me a year and a half to finish the deck.)

I'm fretting a little...I so very much want to do well. My entire existence seems to revolve around wanting to do well; to make something wonderful that pleases not only myself but other people too. It's all I really want. Money, power, it all takes a back seat to wanting create something special to share with people, to create a silent conversation with pictures. To be useful and appreciated for that usefulness. To do what I really really do best. It would be nice if Llewellyn says yes. I have to be okay with it if they say No.

I love Llewellyn. I just bought a book they published tonight. :) On the whole, I'd love to get back into Wicca, to some degree or another, I just don't know how anymore...

I'm lucky I've gotten as far as I have:) I sure do like 'em too...

Wicca's like riding a bicycle; You wobble around and tip a little and skin your shins a bit, but you never totally forget.:D The tricky bit is finding other Wiccans you're compatible with if you want to do group-work. Like herding cats, I tell ya!

True enough. I just never quite know where to start. That and I don't see myself as much of a ritual type person, I think I'm more into the beliefs than the celebrations, and I'd probably be hard pressed to find someone who thinks along those lines, as ritual and celebration seems to be a big part of it...would you agree?

Oh, I dunno, I know lots of people who are less into the rituals. And some of the best witches do a lot of solitary meditation and whatnot. (As I myself do; even though I have some people I do stuff with from time to time.)

If I was to give any advice, I'd just say do what makes sense to you and what you enjoy. Others will come around. Maybe once you feel comfortable again out an ad for a laid-back coffee-shop sort of thing, just coffee and talk specifying a laid-back approach.

heh, I'd come over, but I'm waaaaay over here:)

maybe you could use cross-hatching with white ink over the gray areas to make them scan better. Scratchboard might give it a medieval look, too (quasi-woodcut lines).

I'll see what they say after the scanning...they may want to go to color, which wouldn't be a problem. I've always liked the woodcut idea, though:)
