Yawning too much to type...
Oct. 23rd, 2001 08:50 am...But I'm rested...the lavender oil came through yet again.
Last night in the bath I could hear my next-door neighbors watching "The Phantom Menace" through the walls. The dramatic end-of the movie Jedi-Fight-Scene was so much more dramtic that way...and the acting was better, too. (sorry, folks, I had issues with the movie, though I wanted to steal Queen Amidala's wardrobe)
I listened to the news this morning and heard about the second Anthrax death...My coworkers are all over me this morning. I keep having to reassure them that I am wearing gloves every day, I have disinfectant and plastic bags on hand, I carefully check everything that comes in. I still won't wear the face-mask...right now for where I work I think it's unnecessary and would frighten my coworkers more than it would help. (Watch, now I've said that, I'll end up inhaling somethin awful...like toner. Wait, I do that anyway.)
I admit, it's a little harder to sleep at night right now...all kinds of anxiety about things at the moment. I know I'm not alone...
So to everybody out there who's handling mail in any capacity right now...
(((((((Hug))))))) They may freak us out, but they'll never bring us down.
Ms Eff...getting out the latex.

Date: 2001-10-23 09:17 pm (UTC)Seriously, it would be a good idea to have a HEPA vacuum cleaner on hand, just in case... I just finished reading "Living Terrors" by Dr. Mike Osterholm. I highly recommend it, but there's probably very little directly applicable info for reducing the fear in your workplace. Some pundits are saying that Iraq may have been the source of the anthrax... I doubt that your employer pissed off many Iraqis lately...
Re:
Date: 2001-10-24 07:04 am (UTC)I'll keep the vac in mind, though I doubt they'd give me one. Maybe I can borrow a shop-vac or something if things get worse.

If it's just routine paper and household dust, the best thing is to do is to use a high efficiency filtered vacuum. A regular shop vac with a low efficiency filter will only make it worse for people with allergies.
Above all, relax and don't panic... but be as prepared as you can... I would be glad to talk to your boss to justify getting a HEPA vac. (Don't tell them you met me on the internet, though ;) )

Date: 2001-10-25 07:04 am (UTC)Yeah, I know if I get anything that even looks at me sideways to grab my boss, call 911 and stay away from it. We're being very careful there.
And no shop vac, I promise:)

Date: 2001-10-23 10:05 pm (UTC)I'm getting rather sick of it all. Gloves, no gloves. If there is anthrax what we have set up won't make a difference :p
Daifu who is unfortunatly moody at the moment. Sorry
