I had a 3-day weekend compounded by my having dental adventures this weekend. (Ninth circle of hades, thy name is root canal.) I'm at work now, but pretty drugged out due to the antibioitcs and such, and the bastards aren't done with me yet...I have another swell(Haha!) appointment coming up.
D'ohhhhhhh...
At least I am very very lucky I have very good health insurance...without it, I'd be gumming Ramen noodles until I paid things off. *Gum gum gumm* (Okay, that was pretty damn disgusting of me, and I'm not that bad off by a long shot. I just like typing disgusting things like that.) Anyway, I was cheered up immensely by my friend Alexis's gift of a Jack Skellington tote box (Fit for pencils!) and the rousing card game of "Gother than Thou" we played with friends. (I won once, and so did she...We're both "Gother than Thou!!!Ahahahahaaaa!!! Wait, wait, don't put down that"Embarrasing Fashion Statement" card !!!Ayiieeeee!!! Not the floppy clown hat!!!)
Ms Fledermaus, who is glad to be back, even though the state of things at her work is, well, frightful. (Two people got sick or hurt, and the place is a shambles. Oyyyyyy, as my pal the G-man would say. He's right. Oyyyyyyy...)

Date: 2001-02-21 08:53 am (UTC)Anyway, she is extremely sad and scared. Kevin and I took her to her apartment to pick up a few things. It was so hard to watch her choosing what she'll take along, and what she'll leave behind. She doesn't know when or IF she'll ever be back home.

Date: 2001-02-21 09:39 am (UTC)Ms Eff, hoping that she'll be okay and knowing that she may not be. At least she knows people care about her, and that probably helps a lot.

Good tooth wishes.
Hi, J!!!
Date: 2001-02-21 09:56 am (UTC)G-man is a friend of mine who's in Med school and does a lot of programming--a very bright guy. His family emigrated here from Moscow about 10 years ago, but his accent is still quite pronounced. He sounds almost exactly like my great-grandparents, so I tease him by calling him, "Grampy" Then of course, he scolds me with Yiddish, clutches his chest and yells, in his most distinct accent, "OHh! My HEART!!" And I fall on the floor laughing. The kicker is I'm about 7 years older than he is...I do think he loves being my grandfather:) Another irony is that my family were not Russain Jews--We were Cossack, being the evil fuckwits that beat them up regularly and drank all the vodka and whatnot. I did the appropriate groveling for my genetic history, and now we get along quite well, swapping pihroshki recipies and teaching me Yiddish and downing vodka...(My treat)
Ms Fledermaus, all kerflempt today:)
(Alright, that's enough Yiddish for today, I think--I'll screw up something if I keep at it:)
