I just found out that a man who was arrested for the particularly brutal attack and rape of a 4-year old in my city turns out to be an ex co-worker a couple of years ago. I remember him well, because my boss found out he had a warrent out, and had to stall him until the police could come. (They never did, and 20 minutes later he bolted from the hallway and ran away with two other people.) If the police had come then, would that little kid be okay now? Weeks after the stalling, someone from a local health organization was desperatly looking for him...and it turns out he's HIV positive, and knew it when he assaulted the child.

I didn't link the name with the person until I saw him in the paper today--another co-worker pointed him out. I just feel so chilled...just so cold...

The kicker is he worked security...It was at a time where we had a REALLY incompetent manager hiring security staff.. *Shudder*

I've been trying not to think about it all afternoon, with no luck. Most of the other Ops peopl who have been here a while also remember him and they're pretty creeped out too.

At least it looks like the kid did not get infected; so far as the tests can tell.

I think it was after your time, thankfully.
And he only worked there a few months. But I knew the guy vaugely--you know, having to get him on the radio because he was late back from breaks, etcetera.

But yeah, it was pretty vile...the skin just *crawls* thinking about it. I'm glad he's in jail.
I hope he stays there for the rest of his twisted, monstrous life.
