try a spoonful of sugar (or a packet if that's all you have)... it'll either make 'em go away right away or it doesn't work, but usually it does...

Or peanut butter.

Or drinking out of the far rim of the cup.

my daughter would greatly object to the peanut butter one if I tried that on her and I don't know about Ms Eff, but I'm not co-ordinated enough to even ATTEMPT drinking out of the far side of the glass, however, I can say that from personal experience, sugar works... I had one person say that it worked once for them and then never again, and who knows, maybe it's all psychosematic, but as long as it gets rid of them, does it really matter? All I know is that sugar works for me and my daughter and the worst that happens is you have a spoonful of yummy stuff in your mouth while you hiccup away... :)

I'm not sure about the sugar one, but pretty much al the rest, except scares, are psychosomatic. Both of the ones I mentioned are to get the person to concentrate on something else. Like getting that huge mass of peanut butter out of one's mouth.

You should try the drinking one. It's fun! Make sure the glass is full. Lean over it and put your upper lip on the outside fo the rim. Carefully tip the glass until you can sip a bit.

...but do you know what really helps? Look into the mirror and say aloud: "HIC! Come on, HIC! Hic again and you'll win a million dollars!" Now that'll make it stop. Always works for me:)
