I still got a bit of a cough...which is why I got:
A turkey sandwich
from Restaurant of the Beast
and some cheesecake.*grin*
Cheesecake is a soverign cold remedy, you know...no, really...stop giggling.
I also had an unsatisfying debate with a guy in the breakroom who insisted our species would evolve to be generally brighter and more benevolent and balanced. I kept having to explain basic evolutionary theory to explain why this is not a given at all, that evolution doesn't make you "all that you can be, " that it chooses what's the best suited for whatever environmental factors are around it and that does not necessarily mean intelligence. (He kept interrupting me too, and either didn't get it or flat-out denied what I was saying had any relevance to his views, etcetera...) I'm more annoyed than I should be, it was just a stupid breakroom yakking session...

Date: 2002-02-27 11:35 am (UTC)You are absolutely right about the cheesecake.
You are absolutely right about the evolution thing.
So there!
My lunch haiku:
last night's leftovers
quickly tossed in tupperware
throw in yogurt too
Re:
Date: 2002-02-27 11:38 am (UTC)And it's amazing how little people know about the whole evolutionary thing. It always floors me. Not that I'm a biologist or anything, but jeez, folks!!!
