A little Mausi project...
Jul. 12th, 2002 08:30 amTake 1 Samsonite carry-on suitcase in an unattractive color. (Hit the thrift stores; my grandmother gave me this one.)
Add: A fair amount of black acrylic paint.
a spattering of gold paint and
sveral liberal handfuls of glitter. (Okay, that might just be me.
Maazine cutouts of various interesting things to glue to the top...
Layer these ingredients at your discretion, letting each layer dry as you go. Do a little dance. Toss in more glitter. Be torn about whether to put in the cutout of the Loch Ness Monster, the full moon painted blue, egyptian heiroglyphics, or pictures of Bettie Page. (the last may get your valise stolen, as no one can resist Bettie Page. Go fig.)Let each section cure overnight or your suitcase will have bits of newspaper stuck to it. Then, when your masterpiece is finished and you think you'll recognize it when it goes whizzing by you on that damn luggage carousel, spray paint the hell out of it with polyurethane spray, again letting each section dry as you work. Paint the insides after all your other work--polyester ruffles take diluted acrylic amazingly well.....
Heh, I've been a busy girl. I just wanted pretty luggage since this year I've been travelling a bit.
