You poor thing...I'm glad you got out of there. You have more trouble with elevators than anyone I know.

I know...and it's always the same one...it's got it in for me, I tell ya!!!

(and I could smell burning circuitry--gave me lots of motivation to get the door open...which I managed. I haaaate the smell of burning metal)

Nope, but it did start to *smoke* at one point...It gave me the extra oomph to get the door open, lemme tell ya!

That sort of thing can be alarming. I had a job once delivering medical supplies for a day. They gave me a little van to drive. About mid-afternoon, smoke started coming out of the dashboard.
