A frustrating evening....
Aug. 27th, 2002 08:23 am....I went home after being stood up for my meeting, a bit grumbly and heavilly caffeinated, but when I reached into my mailbox I found--my new AT&T dialup CD for the Home Beastie. Pretty exciting stuff!! Until I tried to boot it up...Something with the software for my modem (which was heavily AOL-influenced) has DONE something to any version of Internet Explorer 5.0 I tried to download...everytime I clicked it so Outlook could do it's thing and get me set up, it told me that I couldn't run it without registering with AOL...every damn time. I dumped my old copy of Explorer, I changed my home page just in case, rebooted, did everything but threaten my hard drive with a gun. Being from a stubborn family, I kept trying for a couple of hours...Eventually I gave it up, had a hot bath and warm milk with vanilla and cinnamon and a bit of rum to get my nerves to relax.
So today I bug the mac guys at work. I'd bug Ben, and I probably will, but he's a PC guy. D'ohhhhh.... I should just chuck that giant paperweight, get a spanking new credit card and buy an Imac somewhere, something idiot proof. Gods know I feel like one...
Anyway, the upshot of it is, the Ms Mausi Home Show's been delayed again. I swear, when I DO get that sucker running I will have the biggest goddamn Tiki party you ever will see...and I'll invite you all....
Rassing frassing rickum rackum....

Date: 2002-08-27 08:49 am (UTC)To get to your apartment I had to take a strange elevator up to a very strange floor, walk past an old movie theater complete with plush red seats, walk down a zigzaggy hallway and nearly bump into a young woman who was vacuuming her entryway. I told her I was looking for you and she had no idea who I was talking about. When I returned past the theater seats, there was a long line of people, some with popcorn.
And that's all I remember.

Date: 2002-08-28 05:59 am (UTC)If you get an iMac, I know a little about them from (trying) to help Mom with hers... (=) <-- Blue iMac
The only thing that bugs me about the iMac (besides the one-button mouse) is that [wtf]it has no floppy drive built in... [/wtf]
