It's a dark night with a full rising moon.

A shadow falls over it...the shadow of a flock of flying creatures, twisting this way and that in the night sky. There is a clump in the center, with an occasional arm or leg sticking out.

A yellow hat falls to the ground.

MISSING MAUS STUMPS LIVEJOURNAL COMMUNITY

The search for a Ms Fledermaus of Minneapolis goes on tonight after a daring abduction from her home by what witnesses claim to be "Flying Sock monkeys"
So far no new clues have been unearthed as to her whereabouts, but the regents of Mausiland, centered in lovely scenic Milwaukee, have been anxiously waiting for news. No ransom notes have yet been left, and as the Queen of Mausiland is still missing tonight the Midwestern Lj realm has been preparing for an assault as soon as there's word...

*the silent machiner of the warming up of many, many Orbital Mind-control lasers is heard. and other, more disturbing machine noises...*

There was a trail of rainbow glitters at first, and while it was helpful for the first 4 miles or so, it vanished soon after as they most likely gained velocity....We ask that you keep an eye on your children, pets, and any other vunerable creatures in this alarming time....

...Meanwhile, the struggling Ms Mausi sees through her streaming eyes the desitnation of her worsted abductors...and starts to laugh. "You guys have GOT to be kidding me!!" She croaked as the deserted carnival grounds drew closer and closer...

And with that, the sock-monkeys landed with their kidnap victim, jumping up and down and chittering with excitement.

Yes, there's still more, and you're going to have to wait. Evil...she's evil....

I think it's the dreaded sock monkey virus... If we don't watch out, we'll wake up with prehensile tails...

And that's bad why? I can draw with two appendages at the same time, or make tea and paint, or reach high shelves!!!

Oop oop!

I guess a case of SMV isn't the worst thing... I thought later, "Do sock monkeys even have tails"... Do they? I need to know ;)

Ms. Phiggy (that's me) sends out a cryptic brainwave frequency, heard only by renegade, winged sock-monkeys:

Beware! or I'll have to let my Jersey out on yas!

Hell hath no fury like a Phiggy who's Maus has been stolen.

Ms. Phiggy says to baaaad little monkeys:

If you don't bring da Maus to safety at once, I will be forced to have Jon BonJovi and Bruce Springsteen sing a duet, and I will broadcast over the Phiggy-to-bad-soci-monkey PA!

You have been warned!

Is that:

Jersey = 'Sweater'
Jersey = Cow

or some other usage of Jersey that I'm unfamiliar with?

From: [identity profile] msfledermaus.livejournal.com
Now that I think of it, all three usages would be equally terrifying...

MOOOOO!*knit knit knit*
WAUUUUGH!!!!

Our Ms Amphigorey's originally from New Jersey, a place with an attitude miles wide. and cool beaches. And abandoned carnivals. And people dressed like Elvis waving to cars:)

Thanks, I'll try to remember to check that out once all my assignments are out of the way (i.e. in about a week and a half's time).

I love Tom Waits' song 'Jersey Girl'.

Jersey as in the state of New Jersey, whence I'm from. Yup, the "Armpit of America", as I call it (at least the northeastern corner of the state), breeds brash, trash-talking, fearless Phiggy's, and other scary things.

Is that where 'the sopranos' is set? I know I must've seen lots of stuff set there, but nothing else much comes to mind.
