A couple of short open letters....
Nov. 6th, 2002 07:55 amDear Walter Mondale;
From the bottom of my heart, and the bottom of hearts all over the state, thank you. Thank you for stepping into a very hard race when we needed you badly, and doing your best in arguably one of the hardest elections Minnesota's ever seen. A lot of people are grateful. I know I am. Thank you so much for your love of Minnesota.
Dear Norman Coleman, our apparently new Senator;
You've won. Congratulations.
No, I'm not happy about that, your winning. I don't feel you speak for me or frankly, a great many of us Minnesotans. I'm concerned you're going to shunt off to the side everyone who doesn't fit your boss Dubya's bottom line. I'm very worried you're going to give the green light to a lot of things that could hurt our state and our country as well as alienate many of your constituents who need a voice where the poor and disenfranchised are being heard less and less.
I'll be watching you like crazy. Please prove me wrong; nothing would make me happier....
