SnotOberfest....
Feb. 9th, 2003 10:40 amI went to the opeing last night, and we all had a pretty good time. I was still fairly sneezy, but I tried hard not to sneeze on anything expensive:)
Today I'm staying inside...Nope nope, not even thinking of going out. Brrr.
I do feel like I'm getting better, which is a relief, but it's taking it's time. I should be grateful it wasn't Norwalk again. I'm uncomfortable, but at least I don't feel like I'm dying...or cramping so much I want to die. Norwalk made me very very grateful to be alive, and I'm grateful I can drink this giant glass of water without incident. Rhinovirus, you ain't bad, you ain't nuthin!!!

Date: 2003-02-09 05:37 pm (UTC)I'm not necessarily moving, but I'm just thinking ahead. There are very, very, very few places in the U.S. I'd even consider moving to, but for some reason I have this idea that Minneapolis is one of them.

Date: 2003-02-09 06:04 pm (UTC)1: For the most part I like living here, though sometimes the people take some warming up to. Very reserved for the most part. Granted I'm an exuberant freak, but there you are:)
2; It's very liberal for the most part...until very recently, with Tim Paulenty in the governor's chair and Norm-Bloody_Coleman in the senate. But they're not taking over without a fight from the rest of the city. As for culture, I work for one of the biggest names museum-wise in the country. and the MIA's got fabulous exhibitions. Our theater's one of the best in the nation, and there's lots of homegrown films and experimental groups and puppet workshops and whatnot. Our music scene's struggling, but it seems ipossible to kill completely.
3: It's only so cold it can kill you for a couple of months:) then in the summer it's amazingly swelteringly hot. We find ways around it, but your biggest compalint as a new resident will definitely be cold-and mosquito-related.
4: Trees. You want them, we gots them. We are a city in a forest....or is that a forest in a city? And lovely lakes to paddle in, and parks to walk in, and we haven't mowed down all the wild areas yet...
5: food is a little spendy, but rents are finally starting to drop. the economy's having the same probs as everywhere else, but we have lots of cultural and technical fields still hiring.
I'll have to see if I can't find some nice links for you so you can check Minneapolis out. I have to warn you,our transit is substandard and our light rail project might get nuked a year before it's finish. But there's some good stuff here.
