I'm at Ben the neighbor's.
We're watching "children of Dune" on the Sci-Fi channel.
I usually don't indulge in alcohol during the week...but I've drunk some bizarre green thing Ben's invented that is acting like a neurotoxin. It's only in the past 5 minutes I've been able to get up off the couch and type.

I keep having a Danny Elfman song running through my head..."here we go now, there go all my friends, here we go now, marching off to war again...smiling proudly, with our heads in the clouds." It was about the first Gulf War years ago. I feel the same sick sense of dread the first one gave me...and this time we have even less reason to be there.

When I supported the first and only legitimate Gulf War, one of my co-workers asked "Are you Jewish?" as if being a Zionist were the only justification for getting involved. He was the same guy who up until 1990 had never tried a bagel.
