Monkey songs revisited...

msfledermausOkay, here's the deal...
I think I've written briefly about Ms Mischa Monkey, a coworker of mine. She has a boyfriend in Hoboken, Mr Monkey by name. One fine day she needed a monkey drawing for her care package to Jersey, so I obligingly (and happily) drew a monkey in a fez. This led to many next day packages sent to my name with bizarre messages and pleas for delivery to that fetching Mrs Monkey. I made up monkey postcards as delivery confirmations. So the monkey business went on...
And today I found a little package on my desk, to "Michelle Monkey" from Mischa Monkey...two cd's *full* of monkey songs.--about 35 songs a cd. I'm listening to the one with all the King Kong songs and radio spots. Wowwwwww. It's a lot of fifties stuff, too so it's...you're gonna hurt me for this...swingin'...

I have to have a fez of my own, some fine, fine day....mmm, leopard-print fez with red trim!

Date: 2003-04-02 05:50 am (UTC)Get some very thin cardboard, cut out a pattern for the sides and the top.
(I'm gonna try one soon, if it works, then I can send you my pattern) Take the fabric of your choice, use a roller to apply glue on one side, arrange it on the cardboard, tuck in the ends.
Leave a tab of fabric on the inside to keep the sides of the fez together. Sew the fez tassel on the outside of the fabric for the top oval, repeat. Glue one to the other with a hot glue gun, use whatever trim you're going to want, and voila!
(I had a book about making fancy fabric-covered boxes...I immediately saw the applications for fez-wearin' critters:)
