I'm a bit pink again...
Jun. 10th, 2003 08:16 amI was sitting on the roof again, kniting and having a beer with Ben the Neighbor.
So I'm a little sunburny. Not bad, though.
*memo to myself--I have to go grocery shopping anyway--buy better sunscreen!*
We were waiting for the elevator on the ninth floor...and it never came. Greaaat.
I had laundry going on floor level, so we hiked down and checked each floor to see where the elevator was. No luck, no dice. Most of the buttons were pressed, and every other tenant we ran into was as unhappy as we were. I helped a very pregnant neighbor up a flight of stairs with her groceries and stroller and toddler, folded clothes and commiserated with another neighbor about hiking up 8 floors with our wash...and then lugged everything upstairs with yet another neighbor from my floor. (I'm in better shape than I thought--she was more winded than I was, and I was carrying a full laundry basket.)
Dammit, I thought things were getting better here. Good thing I signed a shorter lease this time. (Realistically I had to--I hate moving, and it takes me a while to pack everything; especially the fragile stuff. If I move. But it is getting *so* tempting to try one of the nice brownstones down the street.)
So there you are; morning grumbles...

Date: 2003-06-10 06:40 am (UTC)There is definitely an opening in my building if you or any of your neighbors are interested.
I have been contemplating moving too but only for financial reasons. I don't want to get a roommate again but I don't want to be destitute broke all the time, either, and sometimes those look like my options. *sigh*
Re:
Date: 2003-06-10 06:56 pm (UTC)And I'll let you know if anyone's packing up real soon...My new lease is up in january--a horrible time to move, but things *were* shaping up here, and I wanted an upgrade to a bigger place.
this is why people buy houses...not that houses are any easier...
*pouts most unhappily for both of us*
Re:
Date: 2003-06-11 06:18 am (UTC)Did you get a different apartment in the building?
I am seriously, seriously considering taking Shannon and her husband's gig if they get a new building. It's work, but their place isn't TOO bad ... for a short term thing. Her only complaint is that it is VERY noisy. But you know, for free rent, I could make myself deal.
Re:
Date: 2003-06-11 04:35 pm (UTC)i was going to this winter, but then my old manager had to have back surgery and they have this new lady...nice lady, but completely overwhelmed by everything there is to do here. so i don't know if she would consider cutting me a deal, which was what John was offering for a larger place here.:/
The gig sounds pretty good for you if it's something you want to do...*nods*

Date: 2003-06-10 07:08 am (UTC)I don't think I could ever live in a high rise again. Especially one with drunken a-holes and no automatic fire sprinklers and dangerous solar radiation. (I'm a little burnt, too)
Re:
Date: 2003-06-10 06:52 pm (UTC)I like the roof, though...it's the only thing it's really got going--that and my studio's pretty decent-sized. *siigh* I hate moving, too:(((((
