Days off...
Jul. 8th, 2003 11:06 amHere I am, sitting in my living room, drinking lemonade and enjoying myself immensely. Days off are good good good, I tell ya!
I spent most of Monday lugging things and rearranging furniture with the help of Pipa Pete, who was rewarded hansomely with Orange Beef and expeditions to a couple of Asian grocery stores in the area. (Look! a whole octopus!) I feel like I have a bit more space in here now.
Basically this is a working holiday--Barb from Llewelyn told me the new card scanned well, so I can go ahead with the formal proposal. *gulp* so, 4 more cards, and corralling Jen into walking me through their questionaire and writing up a coherent bio. Eeek! But I'm excited. I work best in the afternoons, so that's my plan after lunch.
So what did I miss?

Date: 2003-07-08 09:11 am (UTC)This sounds like a cliche' but I really am honored I made it this far.
They apparently almost never scan artwork unless they're really thinking about it. Ohhh please oh please oh pleaseeee....

Date: 2003-07-08 09:38 am (UTC)Heh, you can be sneaky and do what a friend of mine did--make o lot of fun crafts and sell them at a garage sale. It's not a bad way to see what people think of your stuff. Now she has a garage sale twice a year with craft stuff:)

Date: 2003-07-08 10:32 am (UTC)Granted, mine's a bit untraditional, since it's made out of weird scrap woods...but the scales' good for 5-inch dolls like the Dame Darcy doll I've got:)
I'll have to see if i can find us some good dollhouse sites. I know there's some decent victorian ones out there, I've come across them from time to time.

Date: 2003-07-08 10:41 am (UTC)That's why I built my own hanging one, since my space is kinda limited but I wanted a doll house. It's basically a big ofrenda:)

Date: 2003-07-08 09:45 am (UTC)Basically 3 weeks ago one of the HR gusy twisted my arm and said, "You have to use some of your vacation time or you'll lose it!" So I worked out something with my bosses and that annoying coworker of mine, and worked my butt off to make sure that I covered everything I could control that could go wrong.
Of course I'm coming back to a disaster area, since my replacement doesn't do a damn thing he doesn't have to. But it's worth the week off.
How's things at work for you? What's the Hideous Fashion of the Day?
Re: heh heh heh...
Date: 2003-07-08 09:59 am (UTC)It's not bad here today actually ... black and white dress that's actually rather pretty, white tights and black flats. I mean, it could be better, but it could be worse.

Re: What I'm doing today
Date: 2003-07-08 10:36 am (UTC)I suppose there's no chance to sneak in "Germans Love David Hasselhoff" into the spreadsheet, either. pfeh.

Poor Pete...he was trying to get us out the door for lunch, because we were both tired and hungry, and I was still trying to tidy up shelves and stack books. Capricorns are very stubborn when it comes to reorganizing:)
