Days off...

Here I am, sitting in my living room, drinking lemonade and enjoying myself immensely. Days off are good good good, I tell ya!

I spent most of Monday lugging things and rearranging furniture with the help of Pipa Pete, who was rewarded hansomely with Orange Beef and expeditions to a couple of Asian grocery stores in the area. (Look! a whole octopus!) I feel like I have a bit more space in here now.

Basically this is a working holiday--Barb from Llewelyn told me the new card scanned well, so I can go ahead with the formal proposal. *gulp* so, 4 more cards, and corralling Jen into walking me through their questionaire and writing up a coherent bio. Eeek! But I'm excited. I work best in the afternoons, so that's my plan after lunch.

So what did I miss?

OMG that's so awesome about Llewellyn!!!

They could *still* say no, but I'm at the top of the process now:)

This sounds like a cliche' but I really am honored I made it this far.
They apparently almost never scan artwork unless they're really thinking about it. Ohhh please oh please oh pleaseeee....
*crosses fingers*

Just think positive. And yes, to have even been considered is really quite a compliment to your talents. I'm rather envious. As much as I love art and being crafty and such, I don't believe that any of my talents are anything special enough to stand out. :(

Oh, I dunno--you'd be suprised at what you can do sometimes. I don't think of myself as a particularly good knitter yet but coworkers keep begging for me to make them scarves. I think the only real trick to making money off your talents is to let people know you do them. I bet you're probably much better than you give yourself credit for.

Heh, you can be sneaky and do what a friend of mine did--make o lot of fun crafts and sell them at a garage sale. It's not a bad way to see what people think of your stuff. Now she has a garage sale twice a year with craft stuff:)

That is a good idea. I'd be really good at making dollhouse decorations (pillows, blankets, wall hangings, pictures, etc) but no one seems to be into dollhouses anymore that I can tell.

Hmm..I'm into dollhouse stuff. I know there's a couple of stores up here that do dollhouse things, but it would be more fun to order from a friend....I may have to order a pretty thing or two from you, if you're willing:)

Absolutely! I'm going to go home tonight and organize all my fabrics that I have (tons of quilting squares which would be perfect) and see what I've got to work with. I'll also do special orders! :)

Ooh...I'll think about what might be nice for the hanging dollhouse i'm building. (the structure and painting is for the most part done, I just need stuff to go in it.) I do prefer reds and blacks and interesting earth tones since that's how the house is painted...heh, i put in quite a bit of black and browny-reds:)

Awesome! You should take a picture so I can see if any of my fabrics would match! I would love to find a good dollhouse like I used to have, so that I can decorate one and/or use it to model the things I've made.

Cool...I can do that and shrink it down for e-mail with the help of Ben the Neighbor:)

Granted, mine's a bit untraditional, since it's made out of weird scrap woods...but the scales' good for 5-inch dolls like the Dame Darcy doll I've got:)

I'll have to see if i can find us some good dollhouse sites. I know there's some decent victorian ones out there, I've come across them from time to time.

yeah, there's that. andthey all seem to have something that just desn't work for me.

That's why I built my own hanging one, since my space is kinda limited but I wanted a doll house. It's basically a big ofrenda:)

I have the whoooole week off, ma'am!!!

Basically 3 weeks ago one of the HR gusy twisted my arm and said, "You have to use some of your vacation time or you'll lose it!" So I worked out something with my bosses and that annoying coworker of mine, and worked my butt off to make sure that I covered everything I could control that could go wrong.

Of course I'm coming back to a disaster area, since my replacement doesn't do a damn thing he doesn't have to. But it's worth the week off.

How's things at work for you? What's the Hideous Fashion of the Day?

Nice!!!

It's not bad here today actually ... black and white dress that's actually rather pretty, white tights and black flats. I mean, it could be better, but it could be worse.

*grumble* working *grumble* :P

I spent all morning translating a spreadsheet from German to English. The software for that is soooo slooooooowwwwwwwwwwww.

wow! I consider "spreadsheet" a foreign language and then to add German to it......well, it's impressive.

Not entirely an accurate translation. It also translated any German last names that happened to be mentioned with the asset. My favorite was:

"Ablagewagen fur Dumm"

translated as

"File car for stupid"

I hope the client doesn't think we're making judgements of his intellect! *L*

Ugh. that sounds very unappetizing:(

I suppose there's no chance to sneak in "Germans Love David Hasselhoff" into the spreadsheet, either. pfeh.

YEEEEES!!!

Yes they do.

Poor Pete...he was trying to get us out the door for lunch, because we were both tired and hungry, and I was still trying to tidy up shelves and stack books. Capricorns are very stubborn when it comes to reorganizing:)

We're the best because nobody tries harder than a Capricorn...whether it actually *works* or not is a different story, but we sure try.

I'm glad somebody puts up with us crotchetdy Must-get-DONE-or-the-world-will-fall-apart-Capricorns:)
