...I sold the scarf I finished to our administraive director. I felt a bit like something out of a fairy tale, trotting it over and having her try it on and seeing how much she liked it. I can still be awkward about showing my work, even though I've been exhibiting and selling art semi-steadily for some time. Plus knitting is a new skill for me anyway...it sure is gratifying, though...and since I'm still working on a few cards, it helps me relax when I feel stressed out about what I'm doing.

Now to feed that particular addiction I bought some lovely hand-spin yarn from Ana, some lovely mossy green stuff. I'm still thinking of what I'd like to do with it. Mmmmm,yarn.....

The only other thing that's new besides watching more Bravo, ("Gay! Staright! Gay! Uhhh, I'm not sure...") is Daifu calling me and making Mojo-Jojo-noises over the phone...and telling me things about monkeys and goats I never, ever ever wanted to think about.....ever.
Thanks a LOT, Evan! Now I can't get the damn Mojo-Jojo voice outta my HEAAAAD!
Bad Monkey!!! Bad bad Monkey!!!

I, Mmmmojo-jojo, play with the yarn...and playing with the yarn is the joy of mmmmmojo-Jojo!! Huhuhuhuhu!

See? insidious stuff, I tell ya! You're gonna pay, Daifu...

Love you lots...
Will discuss your wonderfulness in public, with diagrams and pie charts using real pies.

Love. Mother.

i want to know more. what sort of yarn did you use? colors? length?

how much do you sell them for? i'm rather broke at the moment, but thinking i may need a beautiful scarf later this fall--looks like i'll need to go to MN late fall or early winter to pick up my mom and drive her car back here for the winter. i have no winter clothes! bah! maybe she'll decide to come earlier.

I used a ball and a half of a ribbon yarn by the name of Cinema, their olive and pink. Very lovely, though it's easy to snag if you're not careful. It comes with a yarn-over pattern for a lacy look..I accidentally misread the instructions and did a (K2-yop2tog) stitch that made a *really* pretty ribbing, so I kept doing the new stitch. It's about 5 feet long, since the coworker requested a longer length than the one I made for another worker....I sold it for $50, since i was learning and felt I could give her a *small* break on the labor, but I should have charged at least $70. (the yarn was spendy--$10 a ball!)

let me know what you might like...Most yarns on the market aren't quite as expensive as the one I just used, so the price would come down, too. (there's even some pretty alpaca stuff out there for about $5 a ball...a little goes a long way for a scarf.)

Maybe we'll have to start a Save Ainetl From Freezing Drive...Mittens, coat, hats, scarves..you'd hve warm things in no time:)

bahahha! i could see me never ever get out of the car. not sure how we'd get the thing scrapped off in the morning. perhaps if you leave it running all night you wouldn't have to worry about it? the very thought of driving through an iowa winter frightens me greatly.

i had to google cinema yarn, that's SO beautiful! the scarf must be lovely. my mom knits a little so i know some yarns are VERY expensive. your boss should be very happy. i have seen some very nice alpaca yarns as well. let me think about it.

Hmmm...We could give your car a nice electric blanket or something, complete with extension cords?
I hope you end up not having to go when it's really bad out. I don't want you to have to be scared for your safety:(

And think all you need to; there's some really pretty scarves on the market that aren't bad money-wise. (Or you can find old wooly sweaters and cut them up and do crazy-quilt scarves out of them after felting them. Mmm, warm!)

That's the beauty of winter; fashion goes right out the window for comfort and safety. You could be wearing hot pink, ornage, lime gren and electric purple all at once, and no one would say a word; only, "that looks really warm!"

and now that I'm thinking about it, I saw a bunch of old wool sweaters up for grabs in the laundry room for free...time to stick 'em in the washer on the hot setting and cut them into squares:)
