OK, here's a story: My Mom has always been a staunch Republican and had a friend, Mrs. L, with similar perverse leanings when I was in 6th grade. It was 1968 and my friend Jim was Mrs. L's son. Anyway, Mom let Mrs. L drag Jim and me (at age 12) to Nixon campaign headquarters in Milwaukee to stuff envelopes for the old Trickster himself, old Richard Milhous Nixon. I didn't know that I would be enabling the old bastard to commit atrocities in my name or attack the very fibre of American Democracy, itself with the Watergate break-in and the subsequent cover-up.
