Who stole it from Cynnerth...
We're all a big bunch of theives on lj, oh yes we are...

One Minute ago: I was putting a smallish pizza in the toaster oven--chicken with veggies, rising crust, very stylin'.

One Hour ago: I was sitting on the couch, knitting some very felty wool in a lace pattern. Probably not the smartest thing to do, but it sure is soft.

One day ago: I was at Ben and Peter's curry bow-out, eating lamb vindaloo and talking about the MIA and giggling.

One week ago: I was over at Ben the Neighbors, watching cable--the one about the Humane Society cops rescuing hurting animals. I hugged the Banana Loaf to me quite a bit during the scary bits.

One Month ago: I thought August would never end...September just blew by in a whirlwind of leaves and thistledown. October is almost here. And you know what that means. If you don't, you should...

Yes, I, Queen Princessa Duchessa Contessa Baronessa Von Fledermaus (Ms) Do hereby declare the Month of October by the power invested by me in being dark and spooky,as EVERY DAY IS HALLOWEEN MONTH... Act acconrdingly. Trick or treat on the bus. Wear a ghost costume to work. Pretend to be Harry Potter at important meetings. Throw glitter at everyone. You know I will.

So there you are...

I love that idea! I have this girl cat, Max. She's orange and black. I really should have named her Samhain and called her Sam for short.

Or you could call her "Sowwie!"
Awww...you have a Halloween Pumpkin cat...I love those!

She could have lots of nicknames! Could call her "boo" really! I've seen so many different pronunciations for Samhain...which do you go by?

I tend to use "Sawwain", but I think no matter how it's pronounced an old-time Celt would wince and cover his ears at how we've murdered his mother tongue:) so I'm not picky.

"Boo!"would be a GREAT name for a cat!!! Imagine calling all over the house--"BOO! BOOOOO!"
heeheehee! I have to do that when I get a cat again!

Hehe. I'd love to know once and for all. It's my favorite holiday, I'd love to know how to properly pronounce it.

Boo would be fun! Do you want a cat? I'll drive one up to you! You can rename her "Boo"! I always wanted a black male cat named Nicodemus.

In all the literature and whatnot it's usually written out as "SOW-ain" with the emphasis on the first syllable, but I've heard it a little differently all over the place. What we need is someone who speaks some actual Gaelic to tell us for sure. Hey!!! HEY!!!! Anybody Irish reading this, hah?!?

I would love a cat again, but I'm in a tiny place where they charge the sky for a cat deposit. *siigh* Someday, though, I is getting a fuzzy little darlin to eat my food and sit on me and wake me up at 4 am to play. meanwhile, you can just call your sweetie cat "Boo" from time to time, just to see if she answers:)

Um I'm a little dense but explain to me what you are talking about and I could ask my neighbor, he came here from Ireland when he was twenty-five and I am pretty sure he speaks Gaelic. The Gaelic language sounds so beautiful to me.

No, You're not dense, this is just kinda specific stuff:)
Samhain is the old name for Halloween, usually used by Pagan folk like me--it's one of the big holidays, and used to be the New Year celebration too. How sweet of you to ask your neighbor for us!

I keep meaning to find someone to teach me some Gaelic...I have a friend offering to teach me Welsh, which is also very beautiful. I might have to take him up on it.

You are not going to believe this but my next door neighbor came here from Wales. I don't know for sure if she speaks Welch but she has a great accent. :)
