The warm delight of sleep...
Dec. 29th, 2000 09:36 amLast night when I went home, I went to bed early and watched the snowflakes swirling around the windows. I slept on and off for about 11 hours!!
And it was bliss!!! total, dream-filled cosy flannel bliss....(I didn't sleep well the night before, so I think my body was determined to get the dreams it had coming to it:) I dreamed about living on the top of a high-rise, with a ceiling that had a big crack in it and leaked water, also windows that didn't have curtains and some girl in white shirt and shorts roller-skating around the edge of the building... The apartment was old and pretty ravaged by the forces of time and leaking water, but it was beautifully painted in blues and blacks and golds, very art-deco. I love my dreams so much, I see the most imposiibly odd and beautiful things....
When I woke up this morning, the snow had stopped, and in places was almost up to my knees.
There was a smudge of bright blue in the sky, like the kind Georgia O'Keefe would paint when she was at Lake George...(Before her move to New Mexico.)
It's funny how we define things we see...someone else would remember other wintry skies, probably not a reproduction of one:) But Ms O'Keefe captured that furtive glimpse of blue so well, I can't define it any other way. That's the best art, I think; one that, however surreal or abstract, carries with it a sense of some experience to share...something that makes us gasp and say, "That's it!!! Yeah, I know what that's like!!! That's Exactly what it's like!!!!" Like that scrap of blue in a cloudy shy after a snowfall....
Ms F, Who should be remaned The Rambler...Lookkit her go!!! (Love that artistic talkin!!)

(thanks Dave!)
There are artists who can transform inspiration into words, and then there are those who make words inspiration. Or something like that...
Dave's got good quotes, doesn't he?
