*stumbles to the monitor*
Oct. 28th, 2003 07:42 amHang on a mo'... Need caffeine really really bad today.
*Glugs large mug of tea*
At two am--yet again--some jackass pulled the fire alarm--again. This time the bastards blasted 3 floors with the fire extinguishers and wrote gang signs on a couple of the fire doors. We were all huddled outside--again--with wailing cats in carriers and cursing the owners and the vandals and anyone else we could think of....again. We found out the hard way our fire alarms aren't even tied into 911 anymore....and had to call them ourselves. So yeah, I'm pretty ragged this morning.
I'm in this lease for 6 more months--seven, actually. I have to go over the new lease info with the manager, who is never in her office anymore. If I can catch her on one of my days off, it's going to be hard not to rant at her like Jello Biafra. Maybe I should emphathise that they've gotten me this long because it's not cheap to move, and besides I have a sneaking suspicion they'll find "something wrong" with my apartment and keep the deposit. (Well, of COURSE there's something wrong, they won't FIX anything, will they?) Urrgh...At least there's a growing movement to organize in this building--we all now have or are getting phone numbers of various tenant groups and building inspectors, and I hear the owners are going to court for neglecting the heat until this week. (Which is breaking the law in Minnesota; people have frozen to death in October.)
Arrgh arrgh arrgh arrgh arrgh.....I loved this place so much when I moved here, my little art-deco oasis in Downtown. It's going to hurt to leave. But I refuse to live in what it's rapidly becoming--or has already become--a crackstack.
Goddammit, I hate moving....
