An unexpected party....
Feb. 3rd, 2004 08:14 am...I slogged home through the snow, slung off my winter things and started cooking dinner when the phone rang....from downstairs. It was Mad Tom O' Bedlam, come to visit with a friend from South Dakota in tow. Apparently they tried to pop up at my work but were thwarted by HR's decision to make people go home early because of the weather.
(They missed me by about 5 minutes, I reckon.) The apartment is a wreck, knitting stuff and books everywhere, bed unmade, Bruce the Monkey sitting on my bed like he owns the place, my hands are covered in dismembered chicken bits...and I have company!!!!
D'ohhhhhhhhhh......
At least my company didn't seem to mind overly the girly detritus everywhere. I kicked into Urban-Princess-UberHostess-Mode and fed them coffee and gave the SD friend one or two of Ben the Neighbor's primo batch of pumpkin-apple beers. (The friend was bemused but seemed to enjoy the stuff.) I was able to give Tom the laptop I was excavating for all last week, and enjoyed a few chuckles and conversation. I hope I didn't seem too abrupt or anything...I was still wired from work. It seemed okay though.
Seriously though, I should really snitch some copy-paper boxes from work and start getting some of the books outta the way...then I'd have more room to sit and such:)

Date: 2004-02-04 05:42 am (UTC)I'm trying to plan ahead for my Moving out of the Crackstack...even though my lease isn't up until June. The sneakier I am about packing the happier I'll be later:)

Date: 2004-02-04 05:35 am (UTC)My friend's not like that character per se...though I know the Silverberg book a bit, I was thinking about Emma Bull's Tom Worecksi from Bone Dance. Okay, being like that character would be bad too...he nuked most of the Western Hemisphere:)
