"So I met this guy,and he wants to mummify me...have you noticed the world's getting weirder?"
I was on the floor for this one when I heard it on Queer as Folk. Fantastic:)
The good thing about the workity life this week is the arrival (hopefully) of my addiction of choice--lovely lovely merino yarn with which to make many nice warm snoogly things. I love really soft wools...merino and mohair and alpaca and angora... A shawl made of mohair feels like a hug. Chenille sliding through fingers is the most wonderful feeling. People pet me when I wear my merino sweater.
(That would be because I keep sticking out an arm and screeching, "PET MEEEEEEE!")The knitting thing is almost frightening in it's intensity lately. Ooh, scary, keeds...
I still paint, but lately most of my subjects and sketches are dark and solemn and not at all comforting. Nothng wrong with that, but the weather just seems to prompt this basic need for something warming to do. I reckon I could blame it on genetics if I absolutely felt I needed a rationale--I'm told my great-great grandmother used to do double-knit socks for Great-Great grandpa...for those of you who are unfamiliar with the whole hand-knitting thing this is the equivalent
of trying to do calculus while beating yourself over the head with a big fat brick...
I'm still a bit cheery from visiting the Islanders. They have a way of jump-starting all kinds of clever plans...for instance the Website of the Samurai-Knitters is gonna get much more interesting this spring. I have lovely ideas to paint my next apartment, especially if I manage to get a space in the Island co-op. Embryionic plans for a small gallery space are being fleshed out more with time. I could use something to do with my time that I'm GOOD at and enjoy to make my life a happier thing...
so there you are, your Maus Ramblings of the morning.
