...That means I can start on mitten #2 of a set. Verrrry foofy black with pink (Pink!) mohair cuffs to go with a mohair scarf I finished. The Norweigans say that there's no bad weather, only bad clothing...so I'm trying to make nice warm nearly-indestructable stuff:)

Other things I've been doing include:

Spinning more of that nice local alpaca on a drop spindle. I've got about 35 yards wrapped up nicely in a skein, ready for a wash. (That's not a lot of yarn, I know. I should have kept going, dammit.) My technique is getting better, though I'm still spinning a mite thick to 2-ply it with another strand. But single-ply is very pretty too...I'm sure with more practice I can spin some thinner stuff...

Buying better food to stick in the freezer, just to have in case of company or emergency. I made a white-sauce parmesan pasta with scallops and basil, garlic and tomatoes last night. Not bad stuff if I do say so:)

Buying better tea as well. I've got some Jade Pearl Oolong in my pantry, begging to be plunked into boiling water.

Reading new copies of "The Desert Peach." Great stuff.

Buying a copy of "Real Simple" to help me clean my closet. It's an amazingly disappointing magazine for the price, maaan...Martha Stewart, you are eeeeevil for making me buy your crappy magazine:PPPPP

Okay, off to the races for me...

I've been disappointed with Real Simple ever since they ran that article on How to Saran Wrap Leftovers a few months ago. And that family in the closet article? They have plenty of space, they were just slobs. Not inspiring.

I'm the biggest idjit. I *know* how to organize a closet--buy a bunch of plastic container-crap or steal a bunch of archive boxes and shove everything in it, then stack in neat piles....right?:)

I didn't know that was a MS mag! I picked up a couple of copies when it first came out and was completely disappointed. It looks lovely, but some of their advice is like "buy containers to put your stuff in". Um, no shit?

Sadly, it's true:P It's a martha rag. I dunno what came over me, it was just that picture of a nice clean closet...I just snapped and dragged it home.

At least it's something to read in the tub so I won't have to worry about dropping it in...

I can't even do that. It's so. boring. Very pretty, though, as I said. But you know, Gwyneth Paltrow is pretty and boring, and I'm not taking a bath with her, either.

Is RS a Martha Mag? She's got one called "Body + Soul" that is moderately okay, but different. I thought all the Martha ones had her name on it.

I like Organic Living. It's the Rodale people and while they suck at graphic design, they're earnest in a way that is endearing. (Even if they're a tad off.)

On the recommendation of [livejournal.com profile] annablme (my sister) I'd like to add you to my friends list. May I?

Organic Living is semi-ok, but I am really disappointed in the way that Organic Gardening Magazine has gone downhill in the past few years.

I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't read Organic Gardening in years (because I didn't have a garden) and had been considering picking it back up. Is there something better out there?

Yeah, I like your other magazine better, the one with all the alpaca-breeding tips:)
