Have yerself a merry little Mausmas...
Dec. 25th, 2005 05:53 pmI'm over at some friends' houses this holiday season, so it's a bit of an adventure toting my copy of The Nightmare Before Christmas and the knitting and various presents and whatnot...but a good one, for all the really good reasons. Here's some of them:
1: The Queen of Stuff made me a Gothmas tree: Black tinsel with little plastic bats woven in. I think when I get it home I'm keeping it up until at least May!!!
2: Cheese plate. Mmmm, cheese plate!!
3: I was given, among other things, a new copy of "Women and the Surrealist Movement". My old copy bit the dust in the flood I had a while back, and I hadn't had the heart to get a new book. yayyyy!
4: I learned how to make hamentashen--a kind of jam-filled triangular cookie. I'm told it's traditionaly a Purim snack, but we figured, what the hell, it's tasty at Hannukah too...being a recovering Redneck-y Luth'ran-raised Midwesterner, the whole process was fascinating to me:)
5: Ben and Petey's Fantastic Creme Caramel custard, courtesy of the Nicollet Island Chickens.
6: Homemade sushi in the kitchen, including a shitake and murin and sugar sauce that had me asking to lick the pan. Awwwwyeah...
7: My co-present to the Queen of Stuff that Mcohenmn and I worked on in secret for weeks...is no longer a seeecret. It's a big chest with a cedar lining we hand finished and painted:) She likes it! She really likes it!!
8: Kitties. Even when we have to rescue the Cheese Plate.
9: I do not have to work tomorrow:) Nope nope, not me, I get to be a Lady of Leisure, yes sir and Ma'am and young master and little miss!
So there you are...may your presents be lovely and not include one shrunken head...unless you really really want one...
