Knit-Fu...

...I was unravelling a skein of yarn and winding it up in a ball when a friend of mine said, 'You know, that looks like a kung-fu style!"
"Whuh?"
"Yeah, when you snapped the skein a couple of time with your hands it could be a Kung-Fu move, and the winding could be a blocking move..."
"Huh...and the winding of the ball could be little sharp punchy moves, I guess."
"We could make a manual--Knit-Fu Self-Defense!"
*Snicker* Can we take pictures?...

So there you are, another project for me to do in my copious spare time. *Chuckles*

Meanwhile there was a great hanging-out date with friends and various card games. I now officially have a "Gimme the Brain" addiction, and so does the Queen of Stuff's boss:) It was just low-key and perfectly funny and good. My cheeks still hurt from all the laughing and the horrible fake French accents we all kept using for some reason...

Another funny ha-ha thing was a quick (is there such a thing?) foray into Ikea,the fabled adult amusement park of furniture and tchotckes. I didn't *need* anything, no I did not. Not one thing. Well, maybe that blue rug, it would be really good in my bathroom...except I like red better, I'll grab the red. Wait, wait, most of my towels and my shower curtain are kind of greenish. Better get the tiger-striped green one, then. Won't my shower curtain look kinda funny with this, I mean, it is kind of bright, this Swedish stuff. Well, there's a shower curtain that matches, look, not that far from the rugs, and isn't that cool? Hey, look at that matching fringed window-thing?.....I did managed to escape with just the rug and the shower curtain. And I had a really good piece of cake. And a salad that knocked my socks off:)

I think you may have stumbled across the "White Crane winding Skein" style - Ju Knitsu? They'll take your needles away if you talk about it though :)

My friends and I formed a group a while back--the Flying White Samurai Knitters of Supreme Fabulousness. (Yeees, it's a very long name--it's based on a Chinese writing style and the history of knitting in Japan and just us being very weird:) We did jump around with needles going "Whooooarrrgh!" a lot:)
