...it seems like every day some group of people is grabbing us all by the collective ankles to drag us kicking and screaming back to the Dark Ages...

It helps that I'm up in the new wing at work, in one of the not-open-to-the-public spaces. There's a painting by Leonora Carrington there too. She's my personal hero, is Leonora. It helps to look at the smallish dark painting and think of all she had to go through to be able to keep painting--the Nazi invasion of France, her parents repeatedly trying to incarcerate her for insanity, the dismissing attitudes of her male peers, and the disapproval of society in general. There's always something we can do, even though our circumstances seem grim and harsh. I just have to keep reminding myself that...

There's good stuff, too...my cow-irker Mike is getting married in about a month. He's all excited, as he should be:)

I had a book about lesser-known Surrealists, and some of her work was in it. I'm not sure what happened to it. :/

I recommend Remidios Varo, Leonore Fini, Kay Sage, and Carrington. Gooooooood stuff, much less pretentious than Breton's group.

I had to; I was so depressed by the news. I had to remind myself that other people have survived evil regimes, we can too.
