Things that make me happy lately...
Apr. 10th, 2006 09:15 amA weekend dinner somewhere loud and orange, with a dessert fondue in a coconut.
A late-night stop at a local bookstore to find old paperbacks from 40 years ago.
Chocolate, dammit. Hot chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate chai tea, chocolate shower gel...
Rereading Bram Stoker's "Dracula".
Anticipating a new history book and having time to read it. The History of Sex. Hoohah!
Having someone else's very warm cat sitting on my lap.
Making coconut beef curry from whatever's in the fridge and having it turn out well, even with my patented "Throwing stuff into a pot" technique.
Watching "Howl's Moving Castle" and being deeply moved.
Knowing that a big box of bath goop is on it's way to me from Canada, and I can just stick my head in the box and inhale the luscious scents.
Getting a chance to try out my new Lazy Kate and two-plying yarn I made myself with the spinning wheel.
Giving some yarn to the lovely ladies of Textile Arts at workies.
Dreaming of a house to own someday...why do I have this insane urge to paint the poor thing pumpkin orange?!?
The fact that it's warming up outside and soon I'll see the daffodils that Petey and Erin guerrilla-planted all over Nicollet Island last year...
Mmm, yeah. That's the ticket. It doesn't take that much to get me to the happy place, really. Good thing, too...the simpler your pleasures are, the more often you run into them:)
