...I had about a half-hour or so to kill before going to work and was wondering what to do about it when I stumbled on an old recipie for dying wool with Kool-aid. I had some white roving my supplier of choice had sent me by mistake--juuuust enough to experiment with. Meh hehheh...

One half-hour later and several nukings with the microwave, I now have some dark reddish-blackish roving hanging up in my shower to try. I think I could strengthen the color with a few more experiments, but my first attempt should be attractive stuff after I spin it up. And all this before 7 am! Maus=Proud, I tell ya.

It's kind of a fruity smell at first--not unpleasant, really. I bet the smell washes out a little later after I spin it and soak it to set the twist.

I think Knitty.com (http://www.knitty.com) has a recipie, as does the book Stich N' Bitch, if you wanna give it a try yourself. It's pretty easy stuff--unsugared Kool-aid, the wool you want to dye and the microwave.
