Bit tired and a bit too warm in my little uniform. But at least I'm on second floor of the Jade Mines, where we keep all the jade and the big Amida Buddha and the 1000 year old Ganesha and the 20,000 year old goddess-figure. It's very soothing, even with all the people we have in today. I like to stand by the little goddess and think about how much she must have seen, and how long she'd been buried; that sort of thing. It's soothing for me to be surrounded by history...even with all the horrible stuff going on in the world today, some form of humanity muddles through war and death and plague and famine and hate and fear and sorrow...and leaves their artifacts to prove it.
I'm going to guzzle cold tea and think about all the lovely landscapes all around me. You could travel all around these beautiful mountains in your mind and let it take you through waterfalls and small paths and graceful, bowing bamboo and plum and grape vines...it's very contemplative. Just the ticket today...

I love to look at the decorations on everyday tools or dishware and think of the person that did that.
When Stan was in the navy, he got to go to Rome and stand at the acropolis. He was moved that he was standing in the same place that people like Socrates and Caeser stood.
