...One of our Maintenance guys just attached a full-sized wall clock to a bright yellow chain and is hanging out by the breakroom with it around his neck. Maaaan, that bling is the shiznet, yo...

*breaks down into giggles*

Maybe I'm still punchy from getting woken up by the 24-hour Party people again. Again with the calling of les flics. The cops didn't show up again, either. I wish I had some eggs and a slingshot. Nono, mustn't be like all those horrible people on reality shows Captain Emily tells me about...must be a good Maus, or she won't make me a "Knitting for Cthuhlu" t-shirt.
But the urge to do Bad Things is growing. *sighs tiredly* It's hard being a good Maus.

Anyway, I'm off to walk around humming "The Masochism tango" under my breath again. Funny, that...

Eggs wouldn't be the stuff I put in the slingshot to shoot at them, Maus.

No poo flinging!

I sent in a missive from the city of mpls police department web site asking for advice on what to do if police from your 1st precinct are unresponsive.

On receiving a response, I have now emailed the appropriate people:
Inspector Janee Harteau commanding the 1st Precinct (JaneeHarteau@ci.minneapolis.mn.us) and the SAFE Officer for your neighborhood , Luthe Krueger (luther.krueger@ci.minneapolis.mn.us).

The email read as follows:

How does one escalate a request for assistance when the police do not respond? One of my friends is woken up and kept up for hours several nights a week by a loud party happening 8 floors down and a couple of hundred feet away from her building (a party that I could hear through the phone). She has called the police on numerous occasions, but they do not come and the party goes on, unabated for hours.

My friend has joked that perhaps she needs to nail a copy of ordinances 389.30 and 389.65 to the offending party's door every day. Perhaps the police in her precinct need a similar reminder that ordinances are in place that need to be enforced?

What is her recourse if her precinct (1st Precinct) is non-responsive?

I look forward to your response.

I'm looking forward to this too...I feel like I'm turning into the horrible crank that keeps calling the cops for stupid reasons. It's not a nice feeling, especially when it stands to reason I can't be the only one being bothered by this crap. I honestly pity the next-door neighbors:/

Received a reponse from Luther Krueger (phone number: 612-673-2923) First, he indicated that the complaint call may simply not be as high a priority as other calls that may involve threat to life and limb. However, it would not be unreasonable to call 911 again if the issue continues for some time with no response. However, if all else fails, you can call the precinct and ask to speak to a supervisor (612-673-5701). If there are still problems, he requests that you send him the times, dates, and locations and he can forward them to the appropriate Sector Lieutenant or the folks at 911.

It's worth a go...

Funny thing is, I'm familiar with Luther from my 316 On the Park days...We've met at community meetings when Jen and Ben and I wer trying to get together about th crime and maintenance issues there. He couldn't do much about our apartment complex becoming a crackstack, and I don't expect he'll do much about this either:/ But I can try. Or get better earplugs. Or move to a new neighborhood when my lease is up. Meh.

Eh, Luther doesn't have any real authority, he's just the dude who's supposed to interface with the community. A precinct supervisor may be more effective.

this is really cool of you, to look up all this for me, just because of the Party People. I'm very grateful:)

It's nice to know that Flava' Flav has a place to go once the reality shows end.
