This time, on Mysterious Mysteries...
Nov. 10th, 2006 08:37 am...The 24-hour Party People across the street have had a candle burning on their porch for a full 24 hours. No kidding. I noticed it when I went to work yesterday and thought it was kind of stupid and a little dangerous to leave an unattended candle going, even if it's in one of those tall glass jars. (Even then, actually--Ben the Neighbor had one that broke because the candle was uneven and heated some flaw in the glass. Melted wax everywhere, I'm told.) I noticed it again when I got home, and now this morning too. It bothers me deeply, even though it's--all together now--None of my Business. *shakes head with irritation* Meh.
But personally all is well. I bought presents for Mrs Scraggit's birthday coming up:) Pretty good presents too...and I'm halfway done spinning some bamboo yarn for her as well. (She's allergic to wool.) Y'know, this is just a fiber-geek thing here, but seriously, there must be some trick to spinning bamboo...it's kind of unpleasant stuff to spin. It's very loose once it's out of it's roving and a bit floaty. I have to give it a fair amount of twist for it to stay together. (Once it *is* together it's kind of nice, all shiny and silky.) One of the Textile Ladies at work asked for a sample when I'm done, just out of curiousity about the fiber. I hope it wins favor with the Scraggit when it comes to crocheting the stuff:)
I'm also thinking good thoughts for Mcohenmn, who's out in N'awlins for a business trip. I know it's gotta be busy as busy can be, but I hope he gets to see some good things in the French Quarter and such. Someday I have to go, just to see it all...
but for now, workies beckons. Off to the Jade mines!

Date: 2006-11-11 02:52 pm (UTC)Hey, if you're allergic to wool, how are you with alpaca? Usually that doesn't set off wool allergies so much, and it's very soft and warm. (I have to try some on my uber-allergic dad, since I made some nice stuff recently in a warm blondish Llama-wool:)
