I want I want I want...
Feb. 3rd, 2007 02:53 pm...Cold weather makes me want things. Very primal things. Warmth. Meat. Food and drink. A long uninterrupted sleep...
And then it expands into less primal but still powerful instincts. I end up wanting something funny to watch. I end up wanting cake. (Okay, maybe that's pretty primal too...I can see my ancestors thousands of years ago, in skins and felted jackets, waving spears and bows and howling at the moon with the mighty Cake howl. It's an awe-inspiring image.) I want crystalline beauty--which happily Nature is giving me in icy-freezy abundance.
I want expression of the beauty around me, and protection from it as well...which somehow translates into knitting things like a fun fur striped black and blue angora nightie. (Which isn't finished yet. *siiigh.*)
I satisfy my wants and cravings as wisely and well as I can. Okay, the eclairs I bought the other night, maybe not so wise...but so satisfying:)
I have more satisfying knitting in my future, too...the arty coop I joined wants my work for the next show, and an extra piece besides if I can finish it in time--which requires much knitting together of Hefty cinch-sack garbage bags into a scary hobo-kimono. Art knitting is weird stuff, babies. We think it would end up looking good suspended from the ceiling somehow. I think it would catch breezes interestingly, which could make it that much more spooky and appealing. Wheee!
And the hot steam heat in the Jade Mines makes me very thirsty. I just guzzled a can of iced tea in seconds flat. Another primal want--nobody drinks enough water in weather like this. Go make yourself a cup of tea this instant, willya? I have to go back to guarding the brave souls that managed to get through the bitter cold to spend the day with art...

Date: 2007-02-09 06:30 pm (UTC)Yeah, the hobo kimono is shaping up pretty well...I thought I'd make one from what's around me, and there's plastic bags everywhere. I'll never run out of material, that's for sure. I'll take lots of pictures.
