Chess, oven mitts, Miss Richfield..
Jan. 11th, 2001 09:41 amRdsc and I have started our long-distance chess game--so far I'm white, and moved my king's pawn up one square. (for those of you playing at home.)
the tension is thick in the air--thick, I tell you!!! What will Richard do? Will he...think of some brilliant move that will cost me the game?
Will he tell me some sick joke and switch the pieces around while I'm laughing? We don't know--it's his turn. Very very much his turn...
Meanwhile, last night was great--The event I went to was a charity fundraiser for a local filmmaker, Amanda Taylor. (She's finishing up a new film.)
It was incredibly, hilariously funny--We had Miss Richfield, our local answer to Dame Edna and RuPaul, as our MC for the night. ("Darling, sweetie, don't be stingy, write the BIG checks, darling!!") There were violinists,
comedians, and of course Karen. The slide show "My sister Terri's a Bitch!!" went over like I thought I would--people were practically fighting each other for the oven mitts she handed out, all signed by Terri, the Bitchy Sister. (I love love love my friends sometimes...*Happy sigh*)
I think the only bad thing about the night was that I got dropped from the Verbose thing in January to make room for a special Teen thing...and they never CALLED me!! *GRRR* Karen
shrugged it off--"Hon, I told you, they're a little funny--screw them, we'll get you going at Patricks, let me know when you're free!" I love me that Karen, she's a great boost to the spirit.
Ms Fledermaus...Hey, do yourselves a favor--check out some local talent, wherever you are. Much of it can be suprisingly good, and you'll get away from TV for a while. (What am I saying, I think I know a handful of people who actually WATCH tv every night:)...)
