The river on my side still seems so peaceful...

...Even with the giant orange blockade bobbers in the water warning the boats away from the bridge site, the river seems oddly serene on the upriver side.
It's still pretty shaky around my neighborhood. The helicopters are pretty much non-stop right now, and everyone I see looks automatically out the bridge side of the bus when we go over the Hennepin Bridge. (You can't see much past the trees and the bend in the river...thankfully.)

Yesterday at the Jade mines it was incredibly quiet. Nobody much wanted to come to the museum that day; go fig. All the guards and staff greeted each other with, "Hey, you and yours doing okay?" "Yeah, how about you, everything allright?" We were all just happy to get out and figure out how to get home by the end of the day. Ben and Peaty stopped by last night with a small bar shelf and we drank root beer and tried on hats, just enjoying company. I think I slept better for it. I know we have a big party this weekend at workies but I couldn't tell you how it's going to go:/

Anyway, I should go walk around for a while. Hope everything's well with everybody...

I'm still in Mpls. and yesterday our office admin called my cell while I was at a client's facility. It made me feel loved in a weird bureaucratic way that they did a full head count for our office (100% OK, BTW)...

I hope the helicopter trafic dies down soon.

I hope so too, but I'm resigned to the fact that it's gonna be weird down by the river for quite some time.

I was reading the paper today and they had a picture of the area with both the I35 bridge and the Hennepin bridge. You said you were "two bridges away" and I wondered if you took Hennepin. What an awful thing to happen!!!!

I do take Hennepin, which is a newer and sturdier bridge. I pat that bridge affectionately now and whisper, "Hold together, baby!" just to give it encouragement.
