Awwright, where's the fire?...
Aug. 20th, 2007 09:40 pm...I got up early this morning to go to the Jade Mines--we had a mandatory fire-training seminar, and of course it was scheduled on just about everybody's day off. So I grumbled and grumbled my way to workies, with all my other cow-irkers grumbling with me...and alas, alackaday and goddammit, we didn't even get to put out any fires like we were supposed to because it was raining hard on and off all day. (My friend Mike got to shoot off the CO2 one, at least...we gave him a huge round of applause.) I sat by Rob the Lemur-Boy and Captain Emily, and I kept having to elbow Rob for every smart-ass comment he whispered to me during our talk. (Which turned out to be pretty much every five minutes I either elbowed his ribs or kicked him lightly in the shins. I'm glad he didn't send me to HR;) Anyway, the upshot is we all have to take the actual fire training again in the fall...Meh. Meh, I tell you, Meh!!
After the lecture, Emily and I took off to the Bad Waitress and drank good coffee, ate lovely cheesy entrees and rehashed the talk. After discussing various babydolls I've painted horrible things on in the past year, we decided I needed more of them and we ran off to Saver's with the Queen of Stuff. I now have a twin sister to the scary vampire Gothic Lolita doll I made a while back, with the most amazing hair...I should take a few before and after pictures, I think. Then after a little goofing at home and baking shortcakes and whatnot I had Ms Fleur over for yarny obsessive fun, and we had a lovely lovely time...
And Fleur came up with the most clever idea: One of these fine days around the holidays we should get a bunch of people together who make things, and we'll all bring things we loved making but have no clue what to do with; and swap projects back and forth. I thought that was a great, great idea, since I love making lots of things that end up looking fabulous but aren't really my style or color. I know I'm not alone...throw in some wine, cheese and chocolate and it sounds like a pretty good party theme to me:)
So, all in all, a lovely day...
