...They're redoing the shingles on my roof. Because it's a historical building the shingles are made of cedar. The backyard where they're storing it all smells really wonderful, and even in the heat I had the windows open to catch the smell...

...I made panaang curry last night, which was powerful enough to knock out the cedar smell for a while. I'd have minded more if it wasn't curry:)

Tomorrow is my first Friday off. I feel like an excited little kid with summer vacation. Heeeee...

I got a chance to hang out with the Neighbors and the Queen of Stuff yesterday. We played with some of the scary dollies and drank pink wine. Good times:)

Sometimes I feel swamped by little, little things. *sigh* Like being just about to leave the house and having a coffee cup on the table I didn't put away. Humph. I need to either relax about it and not let it fret me or put out treats to attract Brownies to do my cleanup. I have a feeling all I'd attract is ants:/

I've been craving a hug. I see people all the time, so why the sudden hug cravings? *shakes head to clear it*

I have a pocket full of Ting Ting ginger candy. I Looooooove ginger-candy.

I shared the last of my Pocky with Captain Emily this morning. She was having a rough time of it, so we self-medicated with chocolate mousse-filled crunchiness:)

I finished a pair of socks I was knitting...woowoo!! Socks sounds so...prosaic, but those that follow the path of the True Knitter know they can be challenging and intense. So I have the proud feelings:)

So there you are...

I used cedar mulch in my tiny little garden and really enjoyed that smell.
And I get tomorrow off too!

I've always been amazed at people who can knit socks.
You're talented.

I can try...

Ms Mausi's peanut panaan curry...(serves 4, or 3 starving people who just can't stop eating it)
Basmati rice (2 cups)
Organic peanut butter, about 4 generous tablespoons
2 tblsp sesame oil
2 tblsp good curry powder, or a pinch each of tumeric, coriander, fenugreek, chili powder, ginger, and black pepper...(easier on the chili if you want a milder taste)
1 can coconut milk, or 1 packet of dried coconut powder
meat or tofu of your choice, about a pound
Vegetables of your choice--peppers, green onions, peas, ect--a goodly handful of each that you use. (I like fresh basil, onions, red peppers, water chestnuts, and tiny green peas)
Dash of soy sauce
One or two kaffir lime leaves...

Add Basmati rice to 4 cups of water and boil, then simmer unitl ready. In large pot, add meat, sesame oil, and curry spices and brown. Add vegetables and saute lightly. Add coconut milk, peanut butter, soy sauces and kaffir lime leaves, stir well and let simmer for about half an hour. (Taste occasionally to correct the seasoning--If you want it sweeter, add more coriander and ginger, or a touch of honey. If you want spicier, more chili or cayenne pepper).
Ladle into bowls and serve piping hot over rice with an ice-cold beverage of your choosing. Eat until you feel like you're about to explode. Blame me for everything:)

It's pretty easy to throw together...it's particularly good for killing off the last of the fresh basil in the fridge before it wilts and the last onion, stuff like that.
